Vermont SubLease Agreement
In Vermont there are no laws that regulate the act of subletting which is defined as a tenant who is under a standard lease agreement to re-rent the same space to someone else. It may be setup as a full takeover of the space or as a roommate agreement where new new lessee, or sublessee, would occupy a portion such as a bedroom.
The original tenant should know that they will be fully responsible for the actions of the sublessee if they should not pay rent or cause any type of damage to the premises. Therefore the sublessor is highly encouraged to screen all potential sublessee’s with the rental application.
